H-D® Artwork

On May 13, 2005, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the MDA Black and Blue Ball, Triple S Harley-Davidson was the successful bidder for this original painting of icon Willie G. Davidson, created by famed artist, David Uhl. The event kicked off the celebration of a 25 year relationship with Harley-Davidson’s support of MDA and its wonderful work of “Keeping the Hope Alive”. Over $500,000 was raised during the event to benefit research and services that help individuals who are affected by neuromuscular disease.

David Uhl and his Harley-Davidson fine art have been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and the Speed Channel. The most recent addition to his “Women of Harley” collection, “Rose”, was unveiled at Triple S during its 2004 VIP event. David will be visiting again during MountainFest Motorcycle Rally, July 29-31st, 2005.

David’s inspiration was a mid-80’s photo that was printed in a 1993 American Iron magazine. The photo was taken on a farm near Willie G.’s house in western Milwaukee next to the barn. According to Willie G., the photo depicts him reflecting on his ancestry and how good his life is. The 1912 unrestored bike has a nice patina and is equipped with carbide lights, an accessory at that time. The bike was one of the first chain driven twins following the leather belt era. Willie purchased the bike from a now retired experimental mechanic from Product Design and is one of his favorites from his collection. This one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson art piece is an oil painting on Belgian linen measuring 30”x40” and the unique frame is hand-made. The painting depicts Willie G. as he appears now with his signature beret. Willie G. is an avid supporter of MDA and agreed to assist in this special project. David donated his time and worked with Harley-Davidson to produce this work of art.
